Today marks (officially) my 3rd wedding anniversary. It also coincides with the Ides of March. What better day to marry the husband wearing a kilt and with a majority of the few people we actually invited (read:family) to attempt to drive to Tuscaloosa...when Atlanta had a tornado and storm going through it. Timing, my friends, can be everything.

Beware the Ides of March....and Happy Anniversary!

June..... Where has my year gone?
- Today is the first day of my mom's new job! Yay for that! Hopefully she'll be happy and it will actually not make her miserable.
- On a side note, had I not balked the first two wedding plans into nonexistence tomorrow would be our 2 year wedding anniversary. Obviously, since I kept postponing the fact this is not true. Although I was informed by a certain husband yesterday that he feels like we just weren't legally married for the time before the proposal/actual marriage so according to his calculations, we're coming up on six years at the end of July. Too bad we didn't get discounts on insurance and I didn't get decent health insurance until it was actually official.
- Lastly, Wednesday the 3rd is (fun fact) the day that will be my sixteenth anniversary of moving to Georgia. It blows my mind in some ways that I've been here this long as well as the fact that I've never been back to New Jersey since the day we moved in 1993. Even stranger to me is the fact that my dad died three months short of a ten year mark, although I suppose the point was somewhat moot considering he was born and raised here. And to answer any question, while I did live in Alabama for a few years for school I never really considered it home. I was hell-bent and determined to get back to Georgia and I really have very little motivation to ever leave.
And in honor of this, a quote from Rick Bragg's book Ava's Man:
"But if she was going to live in a damn jungle, she preferred it be a
damn jungle in Georgia, she always said, and never saw any reason
to elaborate on that."
I think that about sums everything up.
